STOP THE BURNING: 30 Global Leaders Band Together to End Deforestation
In this powerful film narrated by Dr. Jane Goodall, “STOP THE BURNING” incorporates the voices of 30 global leaders during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland who shared their thoughts about the importance of saving our forest. As these innovators, changemakers and forest advocates gathered their thoughts, their message was clear – to address concerns and create a collective message that would be delivered to country leaders gathered in Paris for the COP21 UN Climate Summit. And that message is “Save the forests, and we can save our climate.”.
Get involved in the conversation. Watch the video and share it with friends and followers. We need to #StandWithForests. Tell people to #stoptheburning and #stopdeforestation!
This film was produced, written and directed by Avoided Deforestation Partners (AD Partners).

Director-General welcomes COP21 agreement and underlines the momentum in changing minds not the climate
The Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, today welcomed the historic agreement reached by participants at the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. “Beyond this ambitious and balanced agreement, COP21 has created a momentum in changing peoples’ minds and preparing them to embrace the economic and life-style adjustments we all need to make to preserve human life on the planet,” Ms Bokova said.
“Changing minds, not the climate” has been UNESCO’s motto at COP21. The Organization’s programmes and expertise were showcased in a wide range of side events during the Conference, highlighting the potential of the natural and social sciences, ocean research, education and culture to foster new approaches to development with a view to reaching the goals of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, adopted by the General Assembly in September…

World Heritage sites are the most spectacular places on the planet, and natural sites are often crucial for sustaining biodiversity hotspots and natural habitats for endangered species. Cultural sites, masterpieces of human creativity, cities and cultural landscapes are often fragile when confronted by the effects of climate change. Published ahead of the COP21 meeting of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) to be held from 30 November to 11 December 2015 in Paris, France, this issue will focus on methods of adaptation and best practices for dealing with the consequences of climate change at World Heritage sites, both cultural and natural, and will also examine some recent experience in mitigating the effects of climate change for intangible heritage.
The new sites inscribed on the World Heritage List during the 39th session of the World Heritage Committee, held in Bonn (Germany) from 28 June to 8 July 2015, will also be presented.
