Film 'The Chapel', a tribute to an exceptional decaying protestant temple in Zeliszów, Poland, designed by Karl Langhans and built in 1796-1797
In this video film maker Patryk Kizny takes on a visual tour of a beautiful Protestant chapel located in Zeliszów, Poland. Designed by Karl Langhans and built in 1796-1797 the chapel, as you can see, is now in ruins. This however does nothing to take away from it’s beauty. The dramatic music and sweeping cinematography come together to give us a true sense of how grand this chapel is and how much it has endured through the centuries. I also appreciate Kizny’s decision to use time lapse video so we can see the different ways the space is illuminated throughout the day
Also watch the “making of The Chapel” video and see the work that went into creating this chance for us to view something we probably would have never seen otherwise.

A team of scientists from England, Austria, Italy and Germany is investigating new procedures for the analysis of the chiselled figures and drawings. The project „3D-Pitoti" has the goals of developing highly exact 3D-digitising technologies, intelligent classification methods and interactive visualisation technologies. These should facilitate the scientific analysis and public presentation of this UNESCO world cultural heritage site that is so difficult to access. The Department of Virtual Reality at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is receiving €480,320 in financial support from the European Union…

Participatory cartographies applied to heritage. Four experiences (Spain)
Article by Daniel Barrera Fernández
America Patrimonio Journal
Participatory cartographies allow people to show on a map different situations that form the territory where they live. This process is carried out wiyhout intermediaries. Concerning heritage, participatory cartographies are being used to reflect those highly valued buildings, spaces or events that contribute to create the identity of a community. Moreover, these processes are useful to give expression to the relations and conflicts related to local heritage.
In this article, four experiences concerning heritage and participatory cartographies are exposed: the sound map of Malaga, the Mapeandonos initiative, the workshop called “What maps don’t show” and the Malagaturismo project. In all cases goals, methodology and conclusions are presented.

Digital reincarnation for Dunhuang's Buddhist art
Inching their cameras along a rail inside the chamber, specialists use powerful flashes to light up paintings of female Buddhist spirits drawn more than 1,400 years ago.
One click after another illuminates colourful scenes of hunters, Buddhas, flying deities, Bodhisattvas and caravanserais painted on the walls of the Mogao caves in northwest China, considered the epitome of Buddhist art -- and now in existential danger.
From the fourth century onwards the 492 largely hand-dug caves near Dunhuang, a desert oasis and crossroads on the Silk Road, acted as a depository for Buddhist art for around a millennium.
Unesco describes the World Heritage Site as "the largest, most richly endowed, and longest used treasure house of Buddhist art in the world"…

Ciudad Blanca, Legendary Lost City, Possibly Found In Honduran Rain Forest
New images of a possible lost city hidden by Honduran rain forests show what might be the building foundations and mounds of Ciudad Blanca, a never-confirmed legendary metropolis.
Archaeologists and filmmakers Steven Elkins and Bill Benenson announced last year that they had discovered possible ruins in Honduras' Mosquitia region using lidar, or light detection and ranging. Essentially, slow-flying planes send constant laser pulses groundward as they pass over the rain forest, imaging the topography below the thick forest canopy…
